Can the HEPA filter be cleaned?

Why can't it be washed?
1. Water will damage the filter - the fibers are easily deformed and broken when exposed to water, and the filtering ability is reduced.
2. Electrostatic adsorption fails - the HEPA filter relies on static electricity to adsorb tiny particles, and this function will be weakened after washing.
3. It may mold - wet filters are not easy to dry, and mold is easy to grow, which pollutes the air.
Are the few “washable” HEPA filters reliable?
Some brands claim that the filters are washable, but they are usually not true HEPA standards (99.97% filtration efficiency) or their effectiveness deteriorates after a few washes. Even if they are washable, they still need to be replaced in the long run.
How to properly maintain?
• Vacuum gently: Use a vacuum cleaner at low setting to remove surface dust (do not brush hard).
• Replace regularly - it is recommended to replace it every 6 to 12 months for ordinary household use, and more frequently in areas with serious pollution.
• Check whether it is installed properly - avoid air leakage, which affects the filtering effect.
Conclusion:
Don’t wash it! Unless the instructions clearly say it can be washed, it is safest to just replace it with a new one.
