Cleaning the humidifier filter is an important step to maintain the normal operation of the humidifier and extend its service life. Different types of humidifiers and filters may vary, but the general cleaning steps are as follows:

1. Disconnect the power and remove the filter

• Disconnect the power: Before cleaning, make sure the humidifier is turned off and unplug the power cord.
• Remove the filter: Depending on the model of the humidifier, find and remove the filter. If it is removable, pull it out gently.

2. Check the material and condition of the filter element

• The filter element may be made of paper, mesh, ceramic or metal. Depending on the material, the cleaning method will vary.
• If the filter element has become very dirty or damaged (such as obvious dirt, mildew or damage), it may need to be replaced with a new one.

3. Clean the filter element

• Water washing: Most filter elements can be cleaned with warm water. Use warm water (not hot water) to gently rinse the filter element to remove dust and impurities. If there is stubborn dirt on the filter element, you can gently wipe it.
• Vinegar water soaking: If there is scale or mineral buildup on the filter element, you can soak the filter element in a solution of white vinegar and water (about a 1:1 ratio) for 30 minutes to 1 hour. This can effectively remove mineral deposits. Afterwards, rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
• Soft brush scrubbing: For dirty filter elements, you can use a soft-bristled brush (such as a toothbrush) to gently scrub it. Avoid using hard brushes or metal brushes to avoid damaging the filter element.

4. Dry the filter element

• After cleaning the filter element, place it in a well-ventilated area to dry thoroughly. Make sure the filter element is completely dry before putting it back into the humidifier to prevent the growth of bacteria or mold. 

5. Clean the humidifier water tank

• At the same time, don't forget to clean the humidifier's water tank. You can use vinegar water or a special cleaner to clean the water tank, and make sure to clean it thoroughly to avoid scale and bacteria.

6. Replace the filter regularly

• Depending on usage, it is usually necessary to replace the filter regularly, especially if the filter has aged or is no longer effective. Generally speaking, it is appropriate to replace the filter every 2-6 months, depending on the frequency of use of the humidifier and the water quality.
